A Peak Inside
The other day, I busted out some markers and let my thoughts and color fill the page. Here’s my colorful, and messy brain dump:
I Remember…
I’ve been playing around with a writing exercise I learned from Jen Vermet. It’s inspired by writer Joe Brainard, who wrote a memoir called I Remember.
It’s straightforward: Start a sentence with “I remember” and finish it. Repeat.
This unleashed a flood of hearty memories. Different people, places, and events from over the years. Some of them made me smile, and laugh to myself like an idiot. Others just left me feeling destroyed.
I recommend giving it a try. You may be surprised with what comes up.
Here’s a few I wanted to share with you:
In My Life
Doing the “I Remember” writing exercise made me think of one of my favorite songs, “In My Life” by The Beatles.
There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remainAll these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all
It’s a tender song that makes me feel like I’m being gently held while I stroll down memory lane.
Maybe it’ll make you feel the same.
That’s all for this week’s issue of Sunday Candy!
Thanks for reading, friends.
Until next week!
-Sandra

Loved the brain drump - that was a strong punch of color and thoughts 🙌🏻
This is beautiful, Sandra!
There's a powerful story in those "I remember" notes. Love it!
