Sleepy even with those sloooow mornings? Worth it!
This was so timely to read, it's something I've been thinking about a lot, and mostly that I want to really live: how do I become more myself? (and less of what others expect). In the end I think is giving myself time to listen to myself, by turning down the external noise. Hard, but worth it, too.
Loved your exploration and hoping you do follow that creaking in the cellar :)
slow & sleepy -- it's the early darkness! It's messing with me.
That is my forever pursuit, you boiled it down into a question well. Not just how, but how do you really know too? Like REALLLLY know? And how much inward vs outward, solitude, etc. does it take?
A lot of ideas/themes propelled this so I'm intrigued by what you took away from it!
What kind of funhouse are you envisioning? When I first read this I thought of a scary all-mirrored one. But that one would be good because of all the different ways you can see yourself. Is that why those exist? As a metaphor to encourage children to look at different things or themselves from different perspectives? Or were you thinking of the funhouse that’s got the legends of the hidden temple type physical challenges, like the cylindrical rotating room, dodging the foam punching bags that push you around, then the slide at the end to escape? Because that would be like physical challenges but would be more of a mental game too, like running!! (Call-back!)
What were you thinking for the maze? I envisioned a healthy rose garden labyrinth with massive blooms of all colors. You can take your time making your way through the maze, admiring each bloom, smelling it, looking at each color, pattern, feeling the texture of each petal.
I’m sleepy too so I apologize for this really randomly specific reply, and will follow up with a more thoughtful comment later, after some coffeeeee - but I had a college professor who said some of the best ideas come in the middle of the night when you’re working at 2am. There’s something about that sleepiness, it’s like you tap into your subconscious dreams. I support writing while sleepy!
As I was reading this I literally thought: "wow, she really zoomed in on that aspect of this piece, I wonder why? It's so specific." And so I am wondering what about that part stands out to you?
legends of the hidden temple✨ LOVE
Unsure if you really want me to respond to those things or if you're just thinking out loud here. But I like the callback!
Luckily, I didn't write this at 2 AM, but there has certainly been a lot of Sunday Candy written during the witching hours. Writing from my subconscious is the only way I write.
A little late follow-up because you! need! answers!
It’s interesting that you said “scary all-mirrored one” — I don’t think of those as scary. Although, the last time I was in one of those was for a Halloween thing and I had to wear gloves (which definitely makes that kind of thing less "scary" because all I was thinking about was dirty mirrors, hence the gloves) but I think part of the fun in those things is finding your way through it and how tricky it is getting stumped by your own reflection.
And I feel like the Legends of the Hidden Temple thing is more of an obstacle course than a funhouse! I don't know if I'm an obstacle course type of person. If I'm competing with someone then sure, maybe, but then I would just go into intense competitive mode.
Maze, yes. I was thinking of one of those mazes with tall hedges. Not a rose garden maze necessarily, but I prefer your idea. The way you’re describing it is more of an experience than a maze situation, though, which I’m all for; I will never turn down a rose garden. Here for the smelling, looking, and touching texture!

I definitely don't have the answers, but yesterday I started this podcast and seems to have a few, or at least clues to follow https://open.spotify.com/episode/6E6kZoPEr0JlSjRM1msB3D?si=04e7b434df3d4948 Let's keep on commenting! Thank you for opening this conversation with your writing
"Don't chokehold your own becoming." What a perfect tenderizer to start my week. : ) thanks sandra
Thank YOU, sir.
Don't put a cork in all that flows from you.
Will do, Karena!
Or...won't do?😅
Dearest reader,

What a beautiful poem :)

I need answers.
(If that’s cool and you’re comfortable answering them 🫠)

Is this sufficient as an answer?
If this is what you generate when you're sleepy, then stay sleepy often. :)
va bene va bene, dearest Silvio
I'll stay sleepy per sempre
[ps I am always sleepy]
Bravissima! :)
I think I'm gonna have to change my sign-off to "Stay sleepy" instead of "Stay tender"-- what do you think? 😂
LOL. Sounds like an awesome idea :)
