I’m loving this alphabet soup part 2 (I’ve re-read it several times) and I’m secretly hoping for a part 3 (*fingers crossed*). I absolutely adore how your header is actual alphabet soup!
I don’t have much to say because I read this with ~ whimsey ~ but my favorites are Chicken, Kindness, and Song. They’re so beautiful (yes, chicken too… I lol-ed so hard but this woman’s love for Florence made me smile. I hope she found her!).
How long does it take you to write alphabet soup? Is it something you work on over a long period of time? I still haven’t tried my own version 😅 looking for tips!
More to come in the future -- stay tuned. Thank you!
lol love the whimsy, that's fair. And what a selection! Somehow it makes sense to me that you would pick those 3. Though I'm curious why they stand out to you. That was a little girl though, not a woman! But I love the thought of a grown ass woman running around shouting for her chicken, Florence, who also goes by chicken. So we'll pretend it's a woman.
Wow, so many gems here. But Chicken wins. I'd love to meet her, she sounds awesome.
Didn't know that about Coppola. I'm definitely in his camp, I have been treasuring those hours for years now. Will start thinking of them as a shield now.
Loved "Tell me about the quietest corners of your life.". I'm going to start using it as a starting question. Goes in hand with Unknown.
"Be thoughtful with your thoughtfulness." -> That should be on the subway, or on an ad on the highway.
It all reads as if you've been eavesdropping quite a bit, what message does the city whisper as a whole?
Again, so many gems. Eagerly waiting for Part III!
I've been thinking about the "As-is" one. A thought I had when I visited Japan, seeing how vertical and passionate about one thing some of them were (be it swords or potato chips), made me realize that I grew up with, and have very ingrained this "lean startup" mentality. Which up to a point is really helpful, but when taken to the extreme o applied to everything that you do, every time, becomes lazy and complacent as you rightly point out. So the conclusion I came to was that I want to have at least one thing in my life that I commit to "mastering" or "turning pro" into. Your comment revived all this.
I didn't realize the Japanese were passionate about potato chips. But I'm loving that range; swords and potato chips. By passionate about potato chips, are you suggesting they have high quality potato chips, they're commonly eaten, or they have various unique flavors?
& yes! What a wonderful takeaway. I don't know enough about the lean startup mentality, is that a rigid approach to things?
The topic of mastery is one I think about everyday. I think it's especially important to identify the things you aren't aiming for mastery on too. It's clarifying when considering how to approach the actions you want to take and understanding the stakes if there are any. It can be freeing and helpful in getting rid of pressure on things you don't need pressure around, or less pressure/stress, if you aren't pursuing mastery on that thing. I would love to hear more about your thoughts on mastery later.
And good share on the topic of sabotage by others. I realized just now that I'm both consciously and unconsciously always thinking about this. I think this actually perfectly connects to some of what we've discussed around sharing things with others and what people sometimes project and how that can be a problem and limiting. I think sometimes there is unconscious sabotage that takes place in those kind of situations, which is where the hesitation to share can come into play.
I have a mountain bike I use because we have a lot of trails near my house, but I also use it on the street. I've been investing in the right clothing, but I have a funny story about that which I'm actually writing about for my next newsletter. In any case, it's worth investing in the right gear to stay out there in the real life elements.
These are all little treasures, like charming windows looking out of a hobbit hole. The isolation one resonated with me too. I think it's why I've been so committed to using my bike in the city as much as possible.
That's the best description -- I love hobbit holes! I've always wanted to live in one. Supreme coziness.
I've had riding a bike on my mind A LOT lately. But it's so rainy for that right now. What kind of bike do you use to ride around the city? I like this.
I want to be in dialogue with all of these. I have a terrible zucchini bread memory, too! And how I loved, “I don’t want your elevator pitch. You don’t need to be impressive or entertaining every moment. Tell me about the quietest corners of your life. What was the most mundane moment of your day? Can my boring meet your boring?” Yes! Thank you for this alphabetic art, Sandra.
I don't tend to get up easily in the morning at the moment, but I usually love to be awake early and work in peace (especially if it's on something I'm passionate about). There's nothing quite like it. It's not even about feeling extra productive, it's really just the peacefulness of it. Nobody could reasonably demand anything of me that early so it's all mine that time.
I've got so many ideas for comic strips about public transport, that's why Isolating made me feel a *click* too.
I so resonate with what you're saying about the peacefulness of it. I like how you said "it's all mine." Yes!! Thank you for sharing that. I'm a morning person/walker; but I think because the sun rises later than I'd prefer, I'm mostly focused in the morning on getting myself in a good mode to exist and give myself the best chance of having a good day, especially creatively.
Looking forward to seeing what you do with those comic strips if you share them!

Alpha soups vary in cooking time. :)
A beautiful dialogue you have crafted for us here. Thanks for sharing a piece of your creative soul 🥰
Thank you for receiving my creative soul!

I'll send you the flyer tomorrow, so you can semi experience this child, haha.
That's my prompt for you btw: tell me about the quietest corners of your life! I do like this as a question for others though.
loll Eavesdropping, or being curious and paying attention to my surroundings 🧐
Always embracing my role as The Observer™️ and it whispers yuhuuuuu
I never got the flyer... but l laughed at the whisper 😂😂 will keep thinking about the quietest corners of my life!
SENDING FLYER ASAP

Also, just read this by Steven Pressfield, very fitting https://stevenpressfield.com/2011/01/collectively-enforced-mediocrity/

I am too Chicken to write with my As-Is mentality resulting in Boring content 💙 your experimental formats!
I will wait for Chao's take on Alphabet Soup. Or maybe continue writing something using all these headers lol
hahahaha Chao! This made me laugh.

Ah, you're much more adventurous than I am, Rick lol
If by right gear you mean those tight cyclist outfits, I'm not sure I'd pull off that vibe. But I salute you and look forward to reading!
...absolutely beautiful content. Don't ever forget, great humor is jubilant kinetics. Love makes nothing obvious. Powerful quotes. Radical songs. Truths universally viewed. Why x-ist? Your zines...
"jubilant kinetics" -- love that. Humor will set you free!
But what radical songs? Are these songs in the making?
...not sure we do still have to collaborate...

...i am down to help on this...

You already are in dialogue with all of them :)
That damn zucchini bread -- but have you ever had it with chocolate chips? It's so good.
I would like to meet your boring. Thanks, Alyssa :)
Francis Ford Capala and Isolating really clicked with me. This was a nice read :- )
Ooh! Does this mean you're morning worker/walker or morning worker/ bike rider?
