I stumbled upon Lynda Barry’s book ‘Making comics’ last year. It was full of beautiful, vulnerable pictures.
‘Letting them live in the world because they have a right to exist’ is a great way of looking at things. Once we create something, they get a life of their own…they’re no longer just a part of us.
Loved the article! The word 'detachment' was coming in mind as I was reading!
Suspend subjectivity from the artistic creation. Great lesson!! The artist shall cut the umbilical cord which links him/her with the piece at hand.. Not always easy..
This issue, tho. I am inspired by the Lynda Barry reminder, the different shades of green grass the bears are standing on, and the colored subtitles over the black and white video. Thank you for releasing this into the world.
Wow that was really insightful. Never thought about that. Thanks so much for sharing!
Great article Sandra! I loved your bears😍

I wait for your next one ! Take care!
I love the concept - it's none of your business!
From my recent experience, your creations can go far beyond what you are and have an identity of their own. So this makes a lot of sense to me.
And a good reframe when you're overthinking the shit out of things.
Great article, Sandra! It also made me think about Stephen King. He’s talked about how his best selling novels are rarely the ones he’s proudest of.
I don’t know the story behind the bears but it needs to be told. I feel like they are characters in some much larger story.
